A significant gift from Ronald and Jacqueline Dorrance-Tomlinson and the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation
The Board of Directors is excited to announce that NOF has received a special gift from the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation. The gift of $250,000 was granted in honor of and in appreciation for Jacqueline Dorrance-Tomlinson's service as their Executive Director and CEO for 20 years, followed by 10 years as a board member. Ms. Dorrance-Tomlinson selected NOF due to its ongoing, life-altering work in global neurosurgery. The funds will be used to create the "Dorrance-Tomlinson Education Fund".
Jacqueline Dorrance-Tomlinson and her husband, Ronald Tomlinson, have been some of NOF's most engaged donors for the past several years. It is truly an honor for NOF to have been selected by Jacqueline Dorrance-Tomlinson and the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation to receive this major gift. The organization bestows its gifts to a select few who must uphold its founder's philosophy. "Dr. Beckman always considered the greater good, whether it was through his scientific innovations, business dealings or personal relationships. The Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation holds steadfast to the directive and values of Dr. Beckman and his wife Mabel through the mission and actions of the Foundation. Dr. Beckman believed strongly in reinvesting in science and research, supporting the up-and-coming scientists and looking for the future 'Arnold Beckman' of the world. In turn, the Foundation encourages each recipient of an Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation award to employ a similar ‘pay it forward' attitude by promoting the legacy of Dr. Beckman, his values and his scientific contributions through their interactions in the scientific community and the world." With this gift, NOF joins an elite group with its neurosurgical initiatives in the scientific and global communities and deeply appreciates the confidence placed in NOF. The Dorrance-Tomlinson Education Fund will support in general US-based neurosurgeons by establishing new educational collaborations to build neurosurgical capacity in communities with a high burden of neurosurgical disease, facilitating educational activities during Educational Surgical Missions, facilitating remote educational activities (telementorship, webinars, and other innovative remote technologies), supporting research and developing innovative methods and protocols to improve NOF programs.

The significance of this gift for the future of NOF cannot be overstated. It arrived as NOF launched its strategic plan. NOF2030 maps out the organization's path for growth, to imprint its mission across the country, and to sustain its presence in global neurosurgery. In essence, the fund will help sustain NOF to impact and save more lives around the globe through its education-based programs. Simultaneously, NOF can continue to build up American neurosurgeons' global initiatives.
NOF is beyond enthusiastic and profoundly grateful for this opportunity. It kicks off 2026 with wild optimism and deepened commitment to the mission. Remember to give us follow and join us as we move upward together in making this world a better place.

Imagine you are a young child recovering from brain surgery. You look in the mirror and see that half your hair has been shaved off and replaced with a long, red scar. Although you’re glad the surgery went well, you’re disheartened by the way you look. That’s exactly what happened to Anna, a patient with a brain tumor, who timidly asked a nurse for a bandana to cover her head.
Anna inspired us to create Anna’s Bandanas to help cheer up children who have had brain surgery. These tie-dye bandanas are vibrant, colorful, and made of 100% cotton. They will work for both boys and girls and are sure to brighten their day and yours!

A New Look
Anna’s Bandanas have a new look, but their purpose is the same. They now come in three different tie-dye colors. We have the original, blue, and gold/gray.

A COVID-19 Relief Response
Giving back to Jax is a no-brainer. Over the years, The Neurosurgery Outreach Foundation relied on local businesses and the Jacksonville community as a whole to help in its mission. The generosity of these businesses and individuals has helped make our organization what it is today.
During this unprecedented time, many of them are now hurting. It is The Neurosurgery Outreach Foundation’s turn to rise and help members of the community. We invite all of you to be one with us in keeping Jax strong as it fights against COVID-19.
One of the ways we have done this is with Anna’s Bandanas. We re-purposed old stock of bandanas and sewed them as masks. We donated them to healthcare workers.
